Installation information for Cypress CLUX-11SA

To install the 3x/4x S/PDIF transceiver card in the CLUX chassis and reuse its 1/8” jacks for the S/PDIF outputs a few extra things must be done.

The headers and jumper pins must be removed from the transceiver card and replaced with wire jumpers. This is to reduce the height of the card to fit within the chassis. The card is installed on the top of the CLUX board but the output connectors are on the bottom of the board. An access hole must be drilled through the PCB in a vacant area to allow the S/PDIF connections to be wired in. On the 1/8” outputs the signal traces on the PCB feeding the tip and ring must be cut/broken to reuse them for the S/PDIF outputs. This of course disables the analog output ability of the box.

Clocks and serial data taken at resistor networks.

The other option for the outputs is to desolder the 1/8” jacks from the CLUX PCB and fit small chassis mount RCAs in existing holes in the chassis panel. No need to drill through the PCB in this setup.

Secure the board with several layers of 3m double sided foam. Be sure the board can not short out against the CLUX board.

+5v Power and ground can be taken at any suitable point.
