3x S/PDIF Transceiver (In/Out)
Now available is a 3x S/PDIF transceiver board. This board can function to add a 3x S/PDIF output, a 3x S/PDIF input as well as a 3x S/PDIF Input to S/PDIF Output board with dejitter functionality. On board buffering for the clock and data lines that are inputs to the board are provided.
An assembled board will soon be available for advanced DIYers to install in equipment of their choice. Factory installation is also available.
Some uses of the board:
Install 6 channels of S/PDIF outputs from DVD-A, BluRay and HD-DVD players for (3) S/PDIF coax connections to compatible Meridian processors as well as to the Lexicon MC-1. This allows for direct digital output of the new high resolution multichannel soundtracks.
Install in various digital crossovers to keep the audio in the digital domain to a compatible Class D amplifier(s) that accept S/PDIF inputs.
Installed in a multichannel receiver such as the Panasonic XR-55 to add a 3x S/PDIF input to keep the signal digital all the way to the class D amplifiers.

Compatibility
3x S/PDIF transceiver board is compatible with PCM data in Left Justified, Right Justified and I2S format. These are the standard 3 formats used internally in most equipment for PCM audio.
Supported master clock ratios of 128xFs, 256xFs and 384xFs and 512xFs. The transceiver board automatically determines the master clock ratio and configures itself as needed, no coprocessor required. The 384xFs compatibility allows the board to be used in the Oppo players.
Data format, and the source for the S/PDIF transmitters is selected by dip switches on the board. The source for the S/PDIF transmitters can be either the S/PDIF inputs (for in to out dejittering) or from serial data when used for the 3x S/PDIF output functions.
When used to add 3x S/PDIF outputs there are also provisions for inverting the channels (left to right, right to left) in each S/PDIF output individually as needed in the installation. This is configured with jumpers.
